A.J. Emms Kicks Off 2025 Campaign with Runner-Up at Sunset

INNISFIL, Ontario — Running up front throughout the feature, A.J. Emms began the season with a podium finish at Sunset Speedway.

The evening started off strong, as Emms was able to pick up a second-place finish in his qualifying heat.

Starting third for the 30 lap feature, he utilized the opening laps to make his move to take over the second spot. He had sights focused on catching the leader, however the handling began to go away on the modified.

As the laps began to tick down, he would find a pink modified hot on his heels but was able to hold on and cross the finish line in second. The result now gives him two wins, 11 podiums, and just two results outside of the top-10 in his last 15 appearances at Sunset Speedway.

Emms will return to Sunset Speedway this Saturday, May 24 for Fan Appreciation Night.

A.J. Emms Caps Off Season with Heat Victory, Pair of Top-10’s

MILLGROVE / PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Battling up front in the final two races of the 2024 Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified season, A.J. Emms picked up a pair of top-10 finishes.

The stretch started off well at Flamboro Speedway, with Emms holding off a strong charge from behind in the final laps to pick up the victory in the opening heat. He then backed it up with a fourth in the second qualifier.

Taking the green flag in fifth for the feature, Emms looked to make his way forward through the 40 lap affair. He was able to get up as high as third, when a caution came out relegating him back a spot to fourth when scoring went back a lap. Restarting on the high side would prove to be a disadvantage, ultimately seeing Emms cross the finish line in fifth.

A week later, the series travelled to Peterborough Speedway for the finale. Emms missed qualifying on Friday night, relegating him to starting tail on the field for Sunday. He made his way forward through the opening half, moving up into the fifth spot by the halfway mark.

Looking for fourth, there would be contact made coming off turn four, resulting in him getting sideways. Emms made the save, but dropped back a pair of spots in the process. He was unable to make up the loss ground with a lack of cautions, crossing the finish line in sixth.

The result builds upon the team’s successful Just Foam it OSCAAR Modified series numbers, which include 45 heat wins (2nd all-time), 61 top-five’s (series leading) and 75 top-10’s (series leading) in 91 starts. The sixth at Peterborough was his 23rd consecutive top-10, which is a series record.

Emms Racing is proud to be supported by BAE Enviromental, Wolseley Lodge, TL Tire, Speedy Glass Orillia, Bromley Automotive Ltd, Black Barn Golf Cars, Klotz Canada, Jayne at Good Things Promo, and Short Track Musings for the 2024 race season.

A.J. Emms Scores Heat Victory, Podium at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling up front all day long, A.J. Emms scored a podium finish this past Saturday in the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified event at Sunset Speedway.

Emms started off the evening well, picking up the checkered flag in the first qualifier. He then backed it up with a third in his second heat after starting near the back.

Taking the green flag for the feature in fifth, Emms methodically worked his way up into second quckly, hopeful to challenge for the victory. Ultimately, though, he would come up short, crossing the finish line in second.

The result builds upon the team’s successful Just Foam it OSCAAR Modified series numbers, which include 44 heat wins (2nd all-time), 60 top-five’s (series leading) and 73 top-10’s (series leading) in 89 starts. The feature win also was his 21st consecutive top-10, tying his previous career-best streak.

A.J. Emms Scores Pair of Top-10’s in ROC Sportsman Competition

WILLIAMSON, New York — Making his second trip down to Spencer Speedway of the season, A.J. Emms picked up a pair of top-10 finishes in the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified features.

Taking the green flag for the first of the twin 35-lap features just outside of the top-20, he would waste no time moving his way forward, as he was up to eighth by Lap 7 when the event was red-flagged due to rain. Once the race resumed after a brief delay, he kept battling hard to the checkered flag, crossing the finish line in ninth.

The second feature saw him start on the eighth row, avoiding a wreck off the drop of the green flag to keep the nose clean. It seemed to be the theme of the night, as he continued to avoid the chaos to put himself up to 12th with 21 laps left on the board. The next couple restarts did not go as warranted starting on the outside lane, but he was able to keep himself on contention.

The restart with eight to go would see him get tapped in the rear-end going into turn one, with Emms making the save through the grass to get himself back faced the right direction on the pavement. He turned the slide into success, gaining a couple spots to cross the finish line in eighth.

The eighth-place finish marks a career-best in Race of Champions Sportsman Modified competition, and his third top-10 in four Sportsman appearances this season.

Special shout-out to Cathy and Paul Townsend for allowing the opportunity once again.

Emms will return to his familiar No. 14 Modified this coming weekend on Saturday, August 24, with the next race on the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified schedule at Sunset Speedway. The Innisfil oval has proven to be successful previously, with Emms having scored two wins, nine podiums, and just two results outside of the top-10 in his last 13 appearances.

The team will hope to build upon their runner-up from their most recent outing with the series at Peterborough Speedway. The result built upon the team’s successful Just Foam it OSCAAR Modified series numbers, which include 43 heat wins, 59 top-five’s (series leading) and 72 top-10’s (series leading) in 88 starts. The feature win also was his 20th consecutive top-10.
