After starting the feature strongly, problems in the final laps resulted in Emms Racing failing to complete all the laps.

A.J. Emms was fast in Saturday qualifying action, scoring a runner-up in both heats.

Starting second for the feature, he battled side-by-side with Chris Milwain for the opening laps, before slotting himself behind him in second. He’d remain there through the next pair of restarts, poised for another podium finish. However, a flat tire would see Emms go around for the spin in turn two on Lap 20.

With the tire changed, he started at the tail of the field, driving his way up through some of the traffic before having to pull off the track with five laps to go due to overheating. He was credited with a 15th-place finish.

With seven top-fives this season, Emms slips back to third in the standings, just 16 points behind Luke Gignac for the top spot with one race remaining.

Emms and company will be back in action at the next OSCAAR Modified event, which is scheduled for Peterborough Speedway on October 6-8, as part of the track’s Autumn Colours Classic weekend. While the weekend started off well for A.J. Emms, it didn’t finish off as he wanted with a mechanical issue taking him out of the running.

As noted, Saturday afternoon went well for Emms as he placed third in his first heat, followed by a victory in the second qualifier.

Starting 12^th in the feature, he began to make his way up through the field immediately, getting alongside John Harper for sixth at Lap 3. He was able to clear him in the next couple of laps, before getting alongside Marty Monette for fifth at Lap 8, and completing that pass a lap later.

The first caution of the event came out on Lap 13 for a spin off of turn two. Feeling an issue, Emms headed down pit road to the attention of the team, in hopes of being able to solve it and return to the track. Ultimately, it was something that couldn’t fixed right then, ending his feature early

With seven top-fives this season, Emms slips back to second in the standings, just 13 points behind Luke Gignac for the top spot with two races remaining.

Emms and company will be back in action at the next OSCAAR Modified event, which is scheduled for Flamboro Speedway on September 30 and October 1, as part of the track’s Frostoberfest weekend. The strong runs each weekend on the OSCAAR tour paid off on Saturday night at Sauble Speedway, as A.J. Emms scored his second career OSCAAR Modified feature victory.

Emms started off the night showing speed, winning the second qualifier for his fourth victory of 2017. He then fought back for a third-place finish in the second heat despite being involved in a Lap 1 accident on the backstretch.

Starting seventh for the feature, Emms moved up to the fifth spot on the drop of the green flag. He then avoided a spin ahead of him to move up to fourth, followed by a pass on the restart to third.

For the rest of the feature, he would keep pace with the race leaders, running closely behind them as the laps ticked by, while putting together solid restarts after each of the cautions.

On a restart with six laps to go, the battle between the top-two competitors ahead of Emms picked up, with them running side-by-side till contact was made, resulting in a crash. Emms was able to get through the mess unscathed, taking over the top spot.

With the speedway having a time limit in the place, the feature would be called with five laps to go, with Emms getting credited as the race winner.

With seven top-fives this season, Emms takes over the points lead, just four points ahead of Luke Gignac for the top spot with three races remaining.

Emms and company will be back in action at the next OSCAAR Modified event, which is scheduled for Sunset Speedway on September 23 and 24, , as part of the track’s Velocity 250 weekend. The strong performances for AJ Emms continued this season at Flamboro Speedway, as he ran up front throughout the feature en route to a runner-up finish.

Emms started off the night strong, placing second in his first heat, followed by a win in the second qualifier.

Starting on pole for the 30-lap feature, he jumped out to the early lead to pace the first six laps prior to the first caution. He would lose the lead on the restart, slipping back to second till the second yellow flag waved.

Emms got a better restart this time around, taking back the top spot and leading till the third caution flew at Lap 14. The restart saw a battle for the lead between Emms and Chris Milwain, with Milwain taking the top spot on Lap 15 ahead of Emms.

From there on, Emms lost some ground to Milwain as he pulled away for the victory, though managed to keep a gap over the competitors behind him to pick up a runner-up finish.

With six straight top-fives, he currently sits second in the standings, just two points behind Cory Horner for the top spot.

Emms and company will be back in action this weekend at Peterborough Speedway for the Touring Chase for the Colours.

On Friday night at Kawartha Speedway, AJ Emms ran up front throughout the entire 30-lap feature en route to his fifth straight top-five finish.

Emms started off the night solidly, winning his first heat, followed by a fifth-place finish in the second qualifier.

Starting eighth for the feature, he immediately began to make his way to the front, fighting for the second spot side-by-side with Marty Monette on Lap 3. The pair continued to run side-by-side till the first caution flew on Lap 5 as a result of a crash in turns one and two.

Emms got a good restart, battling side-by-side with Cole Powell for the runner-up spot and initially clearing him on Lap 6. However, Powell would then got back alongside Emms on Lap 6, with the caution flying a lap later.

Emms got another good restart, but would slip back to the third position. He’d continue to run there till the next caution flew with just seven laps to go. Fortunately, the final restart did not work as he hoped as he fell back one more spot, crossing the finish line in the fourth spot.

With five straight top-fives, he currently sits second in the standings, just 12 points behind Cory Horner for the top spot.

Emms and company will be back in action this weekend at Flamboro Speedway as part of the Don Biederman Memorial.

For AJ Emms, debuting a brand new late model at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night did not go as planned.

Starting off the night, he put together a solid qualifying effort to start 12th for the 35-lap feature. He’d drop back in the early stages, though, running towards the back end of the field. He was then able to avoid a three-car incident at Lap 22.

Restarting 16th with 14 laps left on the board, he’d begin to make some progress forward. However, contact from another competitor resulted in Emms making significant contact with the turn one outside wall, before having another car drive over the hood of his No. 20 Late Model. Thankfully, Emms was uninjured the crash and credited with a 19th-place finish.

While Saturday night did not go according to plan, fortunes will hopefully go in his favor this coming weekend as he will be back behind the wheel of his familiar No. 14 OSCAAR Modified at Flamboro Speedway for the third event of 2017. The Hamilton, Ontario oval has treated him well in his previous two appearances with a pair of runner-up finishes.

A.J. Emms kept the early season momentum rolling at Kawartha Speedway this past weekend, scoring a top-five finish.

He started off the night solidly, picking up a second and a third in his pair of qualifying heats.

Starting sixth in the 30-lap feature, he stayed there through the beginning half of the race, cracking the top-five just past halfway. From there on, he put together solid laps but was unable to catch the top-four en route to a fifth-place finish.

Emms and company will have a couple weeks off before the next OSCAAR Modified event on June 24 at Flamboro Speedway.
