Following a successful season, A.J. Emms and his crew joined his fellow drivers and their crews at the OSCAAR Awards banquet on Saturday, January 21.
With two finishes outside of the top-10 all season long, A.J. Emms put together a career-best season en route to finishing third in the OSCAAR Modified points standings.
“The 2016 season was a great one for our team,” Emms said earlier this month. “With the new car, and the first year as a team we faced a lot of adversity throughout the season that we were able to over come. With that being said, we had a lot of positive moments throughout the year that we’ll build on, and the not so positive ones we’ve learned from going ahead. Overall a really positive and fun season.”
On top of being called up for his top-five points finish, Emms received two more awards on the night.
With the efforts of both Creecher’s Design and TSS Top Shops – Barrie, Emms picked up the Best Appearing Car Award.
The 2016 Autumn Colours Classic Modified Race Winner also picked up a special award put together by Gary Elliott called the Ironman Award. The award is meant to go to overcame adversity throughout the year to run all of the events on the schedule. Emms earned the award as he was able to run all the events this year, despite a crash mid-season at Delaware and motor issues at Flamboro in August.
With the final wrap now put on the 2016 season, focus has already began to shift to 2017 with preparation in high gear for the upcoming season. Emms already revealed that he will once again have the modified on display at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show at the International Centre in March. Details surrounding that, as well as sponsor announcements, will be revealed on the website as they come together.
Emms and team thank Sunshine Super Wash – Orillia, Davenport Subaru, Creecher’s Design, Klotz Canada, Artech Promotional Wear – Orillia, Bromley Automotive, and TSS Top Shops – Barrie for the support all season long.
