A.J. Emms’ Night Goes Up In Smoke at Kawartha

IMG_3454FRASERVILLE, Ontario — Beginning to track down the leader in his qualifying heat, A.J. Emms saw his night go up in smoke at Kawartha Speedway on Friday.

Emms started off the heat in fourth, immediately making up ground as he was third by halfway. He would make his way by Kelly Balson, set to track down Gary McLean for the top spot. However, with two laps to go, a bit of smoke began to come out the exhaust of the No. 14 Modified, and that just increased with the motor blowing up.

Unfortunately, the mechanical failure would see Emms not start the 40-lap feature later on that night.

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Flamboro Speedway on July 28 with event details are located at https://www.flamborospeedway.ca.

Emms Racing is proud to be supported by BAE Environmental, FMR Scrap Buyers, Artech Promotional Products, Klotz Canada, WIX Filters, Peter Built Racecars, TSS Top Shops, and Creecher’s Design for 2018.

A.J. Emms Scores Top-10 Finish at Flamboro Speedway

MILLGROVE, Ont — Making his first Pro Late Model start of the 2018 season, A.J. Emms scored a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.

Starting at the tail of the field for the first feature, Emms was able to work his way forward into the top-10 by the mid-way point of the event, running as high as eighth. However, the countless caution laps did not play into his favor as he was forced to head pit side out of fuel before the race’s completion.

Starting the second feature at the back as well, he once again made his way forward, dodging the different incidents that took place over the course of the event. He once again made his way into the top-10, crossing the finish line with a sixth-place finish.

Special thanks to Mike Westwood Fabrication Motorsports, and their sponsors for the opportunity.

Emms will be back behind the wheel of his familiar No. 14 OSCAAR Modified this Friday, July 13 at Kawartha Speedway. In the two events that Emms has ran thus far in 2018, he has scored a pair of top-fives including a runner-up at Jukasa Motor Speedway.

The night looks to be busy with the modifieds being joined by the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series, Bone Stocks, and Canadian Legends Nationals. Everything kicks off at 6:30 pm with adult grandstand admission being $15.00 if you print or show the coupon the OSCAAR website.

Emms Racing is proud to be supported by BAE Environmental, FMR Scrap Buyers, Artech Promotional Products, Klotz Canada, WIX Filters, Peter Built Racecars, TSS Top Shops, and Creecher’s Design for 2018.

A.J. Emms Scores Runner-Up in First Trip to Jukasa Motor Speedway

Starting up front in the feature, A.J. Emms kept himself in position to challenge for the win all race long en route to a runner-up finish.

The OSCAAR Modifieds would only run a single heat on Saturday afternoon at Jukasa Motor Speedway, which Emms made the most of with a runner-up performance.

Drawing the pole position for the feature, Emms would fall in line in second shortly after the drop of the green flag. While he was able to stick with eventual race winner Gary McLean throughout the event, and challenge for the top spot on a mid-race restart, it wasn’t meant to be and he’d cross the finish line in second.

“Gary is doing an awesome job each and every week,” Emms said. “They definitely been the class of the field not just this year, but for a very long time. We’re very fortunate to be up here with him. I’m pretty proud of my crew. The handling went away at the end, but we got something we can work on for next week and we’re definitely proud to be here. To get a second place finish, especially here at Jukasa Motor Speedway – it’s a historic place and it means a lot to run upfront here.”

The compliments were well received from fans and fellow competitors for Emms following the race, including those heard from McLean.

“It was a great battle,” McLean spoke of the battle for the lead. “You know, A.J. had to miss last week due to an injury, and he’s back at it. He’s fast. He’s fast every week. The kid can drive a racecar. A lot of fun. I’d wish we get more guys like that who can drive them.”

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Jukasa Motor Speedway on June 23 alongside the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series and Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series. Event details are located at https://www.jukasamotorspeedway.com/.

A.J. Emms Scores Top-Five in Spring Velocity at Sunset Speedway

Battling hard from the drop of the green flag paid off for A.J. Emms, as he was able to kick off the 2018 OSCAAR Modified season with a top-five finish at Sunset Speedway.

Emms started off the weekend strong, finishing second in both of his qualifying heats.

Starting fourth in the feature, he’d battle side-by-side with Gary McLean for third in the early stages, before slotting down in line in fourth. He’d maintain the track position through the first half of the event despite a pair of cautions. On the second restart, he was battled for third with John Harper, though once again slotted back in line in fourth as of Lap 18. He’d be challenged for fourth, but was able to keep the position until the third caution flew with 19 laps to go.

Restarting fourth, he’d battle once again for third, though ultimately fell back in line in fourth once again. A pair of back-to-back restarts wouldn’t go in his favor, ultimately dropping back to fifth with seven laps to go. He was able to hold on through the late stages, though, crossing the line in fifth-place.

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Kawartha Speedway on June 1 alongside the OSCAAR Hot Rod Series, Ontario Legends Series, and Bone Stocks. Make sure to come out and check out the great night of racing, remembering to either print or show the coupon to get $5 off your general admission.

A.J. Emms Focused on Visiting Victory Lane in 2018

After a successful third season of OSCAAR Modified competition, there’s only one thing on A.J. Emms’ mind entering this year – winning.

“Going into this season, I’m realistically just looking for wins,” he said. “We’re not winning enough and I’m just really wanting to get back in the winner’s circle and knock out more victories consistently. The series is full talent – lots of good cars with some good talent. So I’m ready to enter that pool and hopefully come out on top. We’ve made some changes to the car.

“A lot of talk has been about the rookies at the start of this year, but I think we’ve been trying to fly in under the radar and doing a lot of work on our car and make sure our program is where it needs to be in the 2018 season. So I think we’re definitely optimistic, but at the same time we’re ready for a long and hard season. We’re ready to get the work done and do what we know we can. If we do our best we can every night, then we should be okay.”

While scoring a sixth in the year-end standings in his rookie campaign, the past two years have seen the Orillia, Ontario native score a pair of runner-ups with a victory each year – Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough (2016) and Sauble Speedway (2017).
